National Survey

23/03/06 Proposal: That a national survey is conducted as soon as possible to help formulate short / long-term goals and policies. If Petanque in New Zealand is to move forward we need some thorough analyses of wishes, desires and trends to help formulate these goals and policies. It is rather astonishing that no serious survey has ever been done on our membership. You are invited to add to the list, topics you would like to see included in a survey. I will start it off with a couple. Thanks for your input. -Tom van B.

Comment 1 Hi Tom, what is the purpose of the National Survey? Your proposal suggests that it is for the purpose of strategic planning which is great, the end goal being a Strategic Plan which of course will hopefully be the first step towards moving petanque forwards. If nothing else I can see the discussion document of this WIKI being useful for providing some suggestions to which clubs can be asked to rank what they consider are priorities for them. As an individual my wishlist would have to include an indoor petanque facility to cater for international tournaments (if Curling can do this so can we) and our dreadful weather. I think the venue should preferably be in Auckland so that international people do not have to take an internal flight to whereever the venue is. However if Wgtn or the Mainland or anywhere else is prepared to take on this assignment - they can go hard. I for one am very keen to see PNZ put out a strategic plan. i havn't seen one on the Petanque NZ website, although I note that the Aussies have a Petanque strat plan which is well worth a read as a model.

Comment 3 Thanks for providing the link to the Australian Strategic Plan (PDF document) you talked about in your "Comment 1". It looks well set out and presented. I am especially impressed with their forthright "Organisation SWOT Analysis". I agree with you Maurice, this is a good example for us to learn from. -Tom van B.

    trevor neilson:I notice that this page has had 52 hits so far and no comments or requests have been added. Does that tell PNZ that they don't need to listen to the members because the members have nothing to offer and don't really care.?
