Masterton WBS Tournament change
23/03/06 Proposal: That our Masterton annual WBS Triples tournament is upgraded to a boutique one-day tournament for 16 teams (we have a total eight piste at our terrain). That the registration fee is increased to $20.00 per player ($60.00 per team). Please give your feedback on this page with possible tournament paring systems. Thanks for your input. Comment 1 Hi guys, speaking for myself, I wouldn't make the effort to travel any further than Palmerston North (from Hastings) for a competition that was only one day - especially with gas being the price it is. I would want to play ptq on the Sunday as well. As a compromise, if the Sunday was a singles or doubles tourney with the Saturday being triples (effectively 2 seperate competitions) that would be fine with me, people can then decide if they want to commit to either day or both. Comment 2 It is interesting that a one day tournament - WPA Triples Open, held in Levin (03/12/06), attracted a number of teams from Hawkes Bay and Masterton. Considerable travel for a one day tournament was not a problem here. Note, there were no cash prizes this year (no sponsors could be found). Meaning; players did not travel because of potential payoff. -Tom.
