Information Sheet ANZAC Tournament 3/4 March

Welcome to the ANZAC Tournament to be held at Petanque Rotorua’s terrain in the beautiful Government Gardens. The entrance is through the Princes Gateway at the end of Arawa St after the roundabout by the old Post Office Clock Tower. Go to Map.

Start time is 8.30am both days. You will need to be there 8.15am for registration and be ready to play at 8.30am.

Please bring some sun shade with you as we will not have a marquee this year.

Tea and coffee will be available in the Clubrooms with a few home bakes.

A Lunch menu is at present being organised for those who choose not to bring their own.

Remember Rotorua has a liquor ban in the CBD and the Government Gardens is included. You can purchase alcohol from the Bowling Club but you must stay in their confines. I.e. out to the edge of the paving stones in front of the building.

Toilets are available on the outside of the building and the Bowling Club allows us to also use the internal ones. Guys please remember to take off your hat inside the Club as a sign of respect.

The proposed format for the competition is as follows:

Saturday: eight pools of six will provide five games for the first round as a change from the usual snake format.

At the end of day one the top two from each pool will go into the trophy round for Sunday. The next 16 will be in the Plate and the next 16 in the Bowl. In the event of a tie in wins and points the team who beat the highest qualifying team will go through to the higher competition.

Sunday: Each group of 16 teams will go into a barrage round of four pools with four teams. The top two teams from each pool will then go into a straight knockout of quarter finals, semi finals and final.

Prize money has been allocated for the winners and runners up of each section with $500 for the Championship winners.

Please support our sponsors over the weekend. Their signs will be seen on the inside of the terrain.

This information sheet confirms your team’s entry and has been sent to the email address shown on the entry form. Please make sure you copy this off and give it to your partner to read or email it to them.

May Petanque Rotorua wish you a fantastic weekend with lots of happy Petanque.
