Competition Boules

VMS

A design "tour de force" inspired by the old boule cloutée, the CAD designed VMS boule created by Vartan Berberian is the first quantum leap in boule technology in 70 years. Its studded surface makes it instantly identifiable. Manufactured by a surgical implant company in surgical quality stainless steel, hardness 180kg/mm2!.It is my understanding that these boules are no longer being manufactured in this material ONCE SOLD I CANNOT REPLACE THEM -THESE ARE A PETANQUE LOVERS COLLECTORS ITEM . Presented in a clear plastic carrying case with a distinctive cochonnet made in the likeness of the parent boules, the VMS will appeal equally to lovers of good design and the petanque aficionado. Stunning! Size 75mm. Special orders possible, but not, alas, in stainless steel. NZD$550.00

La Boule Bleue

In 1905 the great - grandfather of Herve Rofritsch, the present owner of the firm ,started making "boule cloutée" - a wooden boule with overlapping nail heads giving it a metal carapace. Nowadays these are prized as objects of beauty in themselves. Today, five generations later, the tradition of handmade excellence continues in the small family-operated factory in Provence. La boule bleue is probably the smallest and certainly the oldest established manufacturer in France, the quality of their modern product, maintaining their proud tradition. La boule bleue can, on request, PERSONALISE YOUR BOULES WITH YOUR INITIALS AT MANUFACTURE !

Carbone 115 tendre. Carbon steel115kg/mm2 hardness. Painted surface will wear after a few games. These boules should be lightly oiled before storage to prevent rusting. A "soft" boule the rationale being that it is less likely to bounce over a target boule if it fails to strike it cleanly. Available in 72mm to 76mmm diameter, 0-1 stripes, ROF, 680-730g. Special orders possible. NZD$220.00.
