2007 Singapore International Championship – 2nd Team

 

Sports Boules Singapore has given PNZ the option of sending a second Triples team to the Singapore International Championship on Saturday 15 & Sunday 16 September 2007.

 

Applications are therefore invited from teams who would like to represent New Zealand at this event.

 

As previously advised, the qualifying criteria will be that each member of the team must

• have finished in the top 16 in at least one of the 4 preceding national championships i.e. 2007 National Triples, 2006 National Singles, Doubles, or Triples;

• be a permanent New Zealand resident (as defined by the immigration laws of New Zealand); and

• be a member of a petanque club affiliated to Petanque New Zealand.

 

If more than one team applies, a qualifying tournament will be held, with the winner gaining the right to compete in Singapore. The exact format of this tournament will depend on the number of teams.

 

If a qualifying tournament is needed, it will be held the weekend of either 22/23 or 29/30 June. The venue will depend on the locality of applicants (i.e. if they're all from Auckland we'll obviously hold it in Auckland).

 

Other terms and conditions:

• Players will be responsible for the costs of all airfares, other transport, accommodation, and meals.

• PNZ will pay for team uniforms, to a maximum of $60 per player.

• Players will have to arrange their own travel and accommodation (although PNZ will provide details of the latter when the official invitation is received, so that the team can take advantage of any special deals being offered to competitors).

 

Intending applicants should

• note that they will have to be in Singapore by 13th September at the latest.

• be prepared to pay airfares by the end of July, or early August.
